The Phillies sign RHP Taijuan Walker to 4 year shirt

The Phillies have signed right-handed pitcher Taijuan Walker to a four-year contract, the team announced today.

Walker, 28, has spent the last two seasons with the Seattle Mariners, compiling a 14-13 record and 4.37 ERA in 33 starts. He has also made one relief appearance in his career.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder was originally drafted by the Mariners in the 2010 MLB Draft out of Yucaipa High School in California. He made his Major League debut with Seattle in 2013.

In his eight-year career, Walker has pitched in parts of five seasons with the Mariners (2013-2017), Arizona Diamondbacks (2018) and Texas Rangers (2019). He has a career record of 41-48 with a 4.18 ERA in 167 games (146 starts).

The Phillies will be the fourth team that Walker has pitched for in his career. He joins a Philadelphia rotation that already includes Aaron Nola, Zack Wheeler and Jake Arrieta.
